
The Program
Pursue your passion for wine! South Seattle Community College’s Northwest Wine Academy is the first and only program of its kind in the in the Puget Sound region. Our program’s classes are designed for students who are just getting a start in the wine industry or professionals who need information on current trends and to enhance their skills. We offer classes in wine making, wine marketing and sales, and food and wine pairing. You can choose to take just a class or two, or a series of classes towards attaining one of our certificates.
Certificates
Wine Making Certificate
Students will build an understanding of the basic
knowledge and skills necessary to produce quality
wines and develop an individual style of wine
making. Classes include: Laboratory Analysis,
Wine Production, Viticulture, Wine Chemistry &
Microbiology and Sensory Evaluation.
Wine Marketing & Sales Certificate
For professionals already in the industry, expand
your education and skills for upward mobility.
For newcomers, receive an introduction to this
expanding segment of the wine industry. Classes
include: Viticulture, Sensory Evaluation, Wine
Marketing & Sales and Food & Wine Pairing.
Food & Wine Pairing Certificate
Unique to the Northwest, this certificate will
specialize in the concepts of bridging the
intricacies of food and wine. These classes are
intended for the novice and for professionals
who are expanding their level of knowledge
and skills. Classes include: Viticulture, Sensory
Evaluation and Food & Wine Pairing (from
introductory to desserts).
